Passive fire protection
Passive fire protection (PFP) plays a crucial role in delaying the spread of fire, giving emergency services vital time to respond.
It also provides essential time for evacuation and ensures escape routes remain accessible. There are three key components to effective passive fire protection: mastic work, which seals gaps around fire doors; fire batt, which transforms into a hard ceramic when exposed to heat; and collars/wraps, which crush plastic pipes when exposed to heat, all working together to prevent the spread of fire.
